We are looking to hire a: ANGOLA - BU Head of Customs Brokerage – CABINDA


* Guide and support all functions (Air, Ocean, Logistics, Energy Solutions, Marketing & Sales as well as ISPs) and upon request by the Business Unit ManageR, customers or suppliers with regards to customs brokerage and related tax regulations.

* Liaise with customs authorities.

* Develop and implement customs policies, processes and SOPs in line with legal requirements and corporate standards and guidelines.

* Support the functions and business units and monitor their operative tasks to ensure legal compliance with customs and other regulations.

* Support Sales, Air, Ocean and Logistics functions in selling Customs Services by providing expert know-how in sales and tender processes.

* Analyze breaches/irregularities, coordinate corrective actions with other functions (e.g. Products or Legal) and the BU and take the lead for critical breaches (e.g. withdrawal of business critical licenses).

* Perform internal reviews of adherence to global and country standards as well as customer SOPs with regards to customs brokerage and related taxes at BU level.

* Ensure compliance with global and B.U. subcontractor management policies and procedures.

* Provide whenever applicable customs training on existing/new/changed customs and related tax regulations and/or IT-applications.

* Liaise with IT regarding technology needs and requirements (including reporting) of customs clearance.

* Contribute to defining and optimizing productivity and efficiency parameters and workflow processes.

* Work collaboratively with BU to support delivery of operational excellence and service to customers

Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Process working

* Profound knowledge of all relevant customs-, foreign trade and respective fiscal- & tax regulations

* Functional know-how in air / ocean / logistics including overall understanding of business processes and independencies

* Understanding of PA strategy and products

* Business acumen (understands principles and language, incl. the fundamentals of finance and profitability

* Ability to successfully conduct and manage investigations and come up with pragmatic solutions

* Perform assigned tasks to support Panalpina meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment as documented in IMS and follow all requirements as set out in the QHSE policy.

* Professional experience in Customs Brokerage in Angola

* Individual Customs license as required by and available from Customs regulatory authorities

* Medium High College Degree


* Strong ability to work cross-functionally (all functions) and with the BUs

* Sound management and organizational skills (prioritize, plan, assign, delegate, control)

* Distinctive analytical Skills (Analyzing Referrals / Creative and Critical Thinking, Data Analysis)

* Good communication skills (open and confidential communication style) exhibited through oral and written articulation and presentations.

* Ability to engage with key stakeholders and matrix management

* A high level of analytical skills, accountability, credibility and assertiveness

* Project management skills

* Ability to prepare and work with reports

* Cost optimization oriented

* Ability to work under pressure (tight deadlines)

* Fluent in Portuguese and English
