We are looking to hire a BU Ocean Export Manager to lead the export department in all operational disciplines and ensure operational excellence, high productivity and customer satisfaction.

The primary purpose(s) of this role are:

* Timely reporting and compliance with deadlines

* Accountable for timely and accurate completion of management deliverables to include, but not limited to: IHT, Cargo Sales Report, Shipping Run, A/R, CGP, Budget

* Visit principle customers regularly and accompany Sales staff on visits, if needed

* Sign off on new customer profiles

* Weekly measurement and communication of agreed upon KPI’s

* Monitor/update staff /fellow department heads on market trends/requirements & rate changes

* Assure proper information flow with Sales on changes and/or problems with external customers

* Ensure proper training and education of the department staff and procure cross-training

* Monitor workload and adjust, if necessary

* Evaluate staff performance on a regular basis through the PEAR process

* Ensure fairness and consistency in the Progressive Discipline process

* Interview new staff members and recommend candidates for hire to the Business Unit Manager

* Monitor traffic and cost budget compliance and advise management of any deviation

* Hold regular (at least once per week) meetings with the department staff

* Assist Sales Department in promoting new business, providing sales leads, etc.

* Demonstrates alignment with organizational strategies and commitment to support function processes: HR, Finance, QHSE, Change Management, etc.

* Secures existing Panalpina business and identifies and pursues opportunities to enhance Panalpina’s offerings and strengthen customer relationships

* Other duties as assigned

Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acument / Process Working

* Well versed with global Service Companies portfolio, companies, technology, equipment, locations, regulatory/trade compliance and competitors’ service offerings

* Profound knowledge of Global Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding, and Logistics (e.g. customs and delivery formalities for destination countries)

* Previous experience working in the Oil & Gas industry and Global customers

* Proven track record applying continuous process improvement programs, methodologies, and standards

* Understanding of Panalpina’s strategy and products

Educational background / Work experience

* Industry experience: minimum five (5) years

* College degree preferred

* Management experience: minimum two (2) years

* Previous experience in people management and leadership, including recruitment, training & development, coaching, conflict and performance management

* Work experience in a global forwarding / logistics company

* IT experience regarding SAPTM and MS Office

Languages

* Must be able to communicate effectively in English in a professional business environment

* Due to Panalpina's global presence and customer base, fluency in foreign languages is highly desirable

* Due to fluctuating customer and business requirements must be willing to frequently work overtime, including holidays and weekends
