We are looking to hire a KWI - Air Freight Manager to Supervise, co-ordinate and Air Freight operations within Kuwait in a profitable manner in line with internal & external SOP’s & KPI’s.


* Understands and ensures adherence to Panalpina Quality Policies, Standards and Guidelines (according to ISO 9’001, ISO 14’001 and ISO 18’001 certification) and ensures compliance to processes and procedures set in Panalpina IMS.

* Ensures strict adherence to Panalpina Code of Conduct.

* Supervise staff & processes within airfreight department.

* Plans, allocates resources and monitors the daily operation, always benchmarking the performance against established SOP’s & KPI’s.

* Ensures seamless service delivery by leading the communication and co-operation amongst internal stakeholders, suppliers and operational staff to thereby portray PA-BU KWI as a forwarder of choice amongst our internal/external clientele.

* Monitors and manages continual improvement in data quality levels on systems such as FOS, Pantrace.

* Assists BU manager in the roll-out, implementation, monitoring and management of C2K and e-freight initiatives in line with corporate standards.

* Ensures IHT is updated for all such discrepancies by individual operations officers.

* Continuously and progressively incorporates best practices in liaison with BU manager to ensure a working environment conducive to high productivity and profitability

* Manages employee vacation/compensatory/personal time-off requests in liaison to ensure a consistent service level with minimal operational disruption.

* Reports weekly client, GP, revenue, tonnage development to BU manager.

* Follows-up on quotations to local sales/O&G desks to capitalize on all opportunities and reports this back to BU manager on a won/lost biz methodology.

* Ensures the effective communication, implementation and adherence to all SOP and KPI to the assigned staff.

* Suggests training requirements for all staff.

* Supervises the accuracy and timeliness of the billing/invoicing function.

* Ensures all cash customers are serviced only after receipt of funds.

* Proactively updates all stakeholders on all changes to carrier schedules, rates, tariffs (incl. GHA). Also ensures regular updates of air import cost sheets on the shared drive in cooperation with the BU Sales Team.

* Serves as a first point of escalation for assigned staff.

* Serves as a point of escalation for delayed PODs and any deviations from agreed terms and conditions especially involving overseas PA/agent offices

* Serves as first point of escalation for all operational and invoicing discrepancies.

* Serves as a point of escalation for all delayed incoming invoices from suppliers.

* Facilitates communication between Customer Service and Operations and ensure timely and proactive update on all required milestones.


* Graduate from recognized university/college.

* +5 years of relevant air freight operational experience (preferably carrier/ GHA)


* Knowledge in freight forwarding and logistics mainly in Air operations.

* Knowledge about markets and competitors

* Understanding of PA strategy and products.

* Overall understanding of business processes and interdependencies.

* Ability to work under pressure.


* Fluency in written and spoken English (knowledge of local language is an advantage).
