Purpose of Position

* To develop process, improve profitability and grow trade in the Transpacific East Bound Full Container Load function. This is a developmental role, working directly with Trade Lane Manager and Sr. Ocean Marketing Manager to ensure both Regional and Corporate goals are achieved.

Key Tasks

* Establish and maintain a working rapport with ocean freight carriers/partners to ensure best possible pricing sufficient capacity and equipment, in order to maximize trade lane growth.

* Ensure best possible buying conditions from all vendors in alignment with Country Carrier Policy (CCP) with a view to optimizing costs, including procurement through local carriers as defined

* Establish for maintaining market competitive pricing within GPM for tender management/sales force for RFQ and Ad Hoc opportunities.

* Perform pricing analysis; escalate concerns (capacity management/better pricing/selection of core carriers).

* Formulate objectives and recommendations to promote growth and profitability to the TPEB Trade Lane

* Establish and maintain a working rapport with ocean staff at branch level (USA and abroad) by providing expertise, guidance and training in capacity management, pricing, & product knowledge.

* Update all respective working colleagues within the region and those counterparts overseas of changes in the market.

* Monitoring and Steering of the Carrier Policy to ensuring MQC and commitments are met.

* Keep abreast of industry changes, market situation, customer requirements (delivered by sales)

* Ensure service contracts terms & conditions are properly maintained within GPM’s rate engine.

* Establish and maintain a working rapport with country management by providing expertise, guidance and training in capacity, pricing & product management.

* Supporting Corporate, Regional and Country Ocean Freight Projects.

* Monthly and regular analysis of market-related industry changes.

* Pursue special projects such as commercial competitive investigations, market studies on products and services.

* Perform all other related administrative duties as assigned.

Decision Making Authority

* Authorities as delegated by the Transpacific Trade lane Manager, in accordance with Corporate standards and guidelines (I.E. sub-contractor selection)

* Limited signing authority.

Educational Background / Work Experience

* Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics & Ocean transportation

* 2-3 years of experience of focused Transpacific Eastbound sales and/or pricing, route management

* Working understanding of knowhow of ocean freight procurement and capacity management

Language Skills

* Fluent in English

Computer Literacy

* Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word), basic knowledge and understanding of TMS applications
